Beauty and Loss
I grew up at my father’s butcher shop and living on my grandfather & uncle’s dairy farm. I have always felt very passionate about local agriculture, its importance to American culture, and its survival for future generations. I draw and paint what I know, and what I think is important to our society. When I’m not at work as a graphic designer, drawing, painting, or taking photos, I enjoy taking ballet lessons and hanging out with my husband, family, and corgis.
I display the destruction of nature and agriculture and its importance to American culture. My art depicts both Mother Nature and the local agriculturalist, along with the difficulties both face competing with the corporate man. Destruction of nature is represented by the omission of the environment; farm and forest animals are rendered on a white abyss. Counter to the removal of naturally occurring art, the pieces focusing on agricultural skills and trades, specifically butchery, bring to light these disappearing artisans. This catalog of endangered Americana is my attempt to remind us that what we have may not always be if it is cast aside.

CAN YOU SEE YOURSELF AT OFF TRACK ART?
Are you an artist looking for a place to exhibit your work? Would you like to be part of the team that manages the gallery? Would you like to give up paying commission on your art sales? If so, please consider becoming an Associate Artist at Off Track Art. Off Track has been in business since 2008, operating as a cooperative, an art gallery run by its members, and a home for the artists who sell their work at the gallery.
Off Track Art is a unique partnership of artists in various media, who work independently, but gather together to aid and sustain each other and the gallery. This partnership shares the costs of running the business and makes collaborative decisions about the both the vision of the gallery and its day-to-day operation. The success of the company is based on the passions of its partners: for their work, the gallery, and for each other.
Off Track is a balanced combination of local artistry, which includes photography, mixed media, pottery, basketry, woodworking, fabric art, jewelry, and painting.
Off Track Art has an established email list, this website, an active Facebook page, and Instagram. Additionally, we regularly participate in Westminster City events, such as the Wine Stroll in April, the Barbeque Stroll in June, Midnight Madness in September, the Oyster Stroll in October, the Holiday Open House in November, and special events that we create just for the gallery.
Becoming an Associate Partner Artist is an opportunity for a 6-month trial for both artist and gallery, and could lead to full partnership in the gallery. Benefits and responsibilities include:
-
Dedicated gallery space
-
A lobby show with gallery reception, if desired
-
Pay no commission
