My life has been full of wonderful ‘seeing.’ I have lived for long periods in Japan and Germany and have been so fortunate to see art across these cultures. I have studied history and languages.
I am a mostly self-taught artist and have worked with fiber, clay, paint and now metals. I began silver-smithing in Linda Van Hart’s class at McDaniel, and then at the Baltimore Jewelry Center. I am thrilled to see different media meld together — copper and fabric, paper and silver, fabric and paper. I have a strong drive to repurpose the vast masses of ‘stuff’ in our world and to use ‘found objects’ in my work. I so doing, I try to show that jewelry is personal and the result of life lived.
